The Proud To Be Pride Event

Jun 25, 2024

The Italian partner, CEIPES ETS, is happy to share the success of its event PROUD TO BE PRIDE organized the 21st of June 2024, the day before the PRIDE parade in Palermo. In particular, it was the Multiplier Event of the project PRIDE NETWORK LEAD (Project Number: 2022-1-IT01-KA220-VET-000087825). The session was hosted inside a public park in an area managed by the Palermo Youth Center (PYC), one of the Italian ARCI associations.

35 people participated in the event, showing interest and interacting with the speakers. The participants were mostly representatives of local authorities and LGBTQIA+ activists.

At the beginning, CEIPES made a brief introduction to the project and welcomed the two guests: Domenica La Greca, representative of IRSEI, project coordinator, and Concetta Di Benedetto, the representative of the Network RE.A.DY and Welfare, Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination Unit of the Municipality of Palermo.

Specifically, the representative of the project coordinator had the chance to share data collected by the Consortium during the first phase of the project and mentioned some of the best practices included in the national research. Then, the representative of the Municipality informed the audience about the situation in public offices and the discriminatory behavior reported by employees of the Municipality of Palermo. She also explained the initiatives undertaken by the Network RE.A.DY during the last years throughout Italy.

Then, the CEIPES representative presented the PRIDE NETWORK LEAD project and all its results and objectives. Some of the tools developed have been deepened and a fruitful debate started from some audience questions.

All participants demonstrated an interest in the materials and hope that we will continue to work on LGBTQIA+ issues since there is a lot to do in the achievement of equal opportunities, especially in the labour market.
